Anyone headed out this weekend? What are the deer numbers looking like around the state? Personally, It seems I have more bucks this year than usual and I have seen a ton of deer while out driving around in the evenings. Pumped for this weekend, good luck everyone!

It looks good about the same number of deer as years past, I won't be hunting till the rut.

I try not to hunt real hard and stay out of my best spots until the rut but I still hunt early on, its hard not to go out when I know I can!

I'm seeing a bunch of does and young bucks. Much more than usual (thanks clearcuts!). And going into this year I have more bucks on my radar than I've had in a long time.

I'll sit out Saturday or Sunday night, but probably won't hunt until October after that since I'm headed to Colorado.

Not as many big bucks on my small property this year.

I'll be out on the farm Saturday night and then will be hitting public Sunday.

I hold off on the private land I can hunt until the end of October. I usually wait a week to hunt the public land by then the guys who bought there bows last week are done.

Seeing tons of small bucks and does. Have yet to get a big one on camera but the neighbors across the road have a couple so it's just a matter of time before they cross the dirt road. Numbers seem be around the same as last year. Which wasn't bad as everyone seem to have said. Just need to be careful with scent control and you'll see deer.

Out of my 9 years of bowhunting whitetails in MN. I don't even care about the rut anymore, Id rather hunt hard early than waiting for the rut. Alot of big bucks go nocturnal during the rut. 1 there off wondering out of wher u hunt, 2 Chasing a doe somewhere, 3 hiding somewhere. I've seen more of the bigger bucks move more out during the day early season than the rut. Last season of September of 2015 I tagged my 1st buck that officially went into the Pope&Young record books on the third day of bow season. My 2nd day out bowhunting. The year before of 2014 On my other private access area. I saw 2 P&Y size bucks out on the other side of the alphalpha with 1 of the nice 8 pt that I tagged the week before gun.

Good luck to anyone heading out this morning. I'll be in a stand at some point this weekend, but not seeing much sign in the Grand Rapids area where I hunt.

Well. It's good that it's cold. Good to keep mosquitoes away with the cold.

Be tick aware the deer ticks come out when it cools off again. I thought one of my dogs was dying took her in and sure enough even with shots and tick collars she got lymes.

Yeah she is much better, yesterday morning she would not eat or drink or move, when I carried her outside she would not move. She was limping favoring a back leg on wednesday, thursday morning it was her back and front leg. Got her on antibiotics and pain meds by last night she was moving around much better this morning she was back to her 100mph self. I have had the lymes twice and it sucks felt so bad for the dog. Funny thing is when I brought the dog in and explained the symptoms the vet tech right away said lymes. There are two vet clinics in town and I was told that they both average 5-7 dogs a week diagnosed with lymes.
