I have lived the past 15 years, on the Eastern side of Sangamon County and now I am moving to the Western side. I have gained access to some nice private land and I do hunt some large public land. Now those places are going to be a lot less handy to hunt. One was just a 2 minute car ride and a 5 minute walk from my old house. Now that it's a 20 minute drive, I bet I hunt it a lot less. Another spot a have is really going to be just a shotgun spot. So, it looks like I will be driving more and hunting public land more. If anyone knows of any public or private spots that are within a short ride of the west side of Springfield, please let me know. I am not against paying for the right to hunt a spot and I am more than willing to work for those spots!
