Hey everyone, I am going to see if I can do this right. My name is Ryan and I am new to this sight, directed here by a friend, and after having scoped out the sight I decided to join. I am a beginning bowhunter (shooting for about 2 years) and am finally confident enough in my shot to want to go out in the stand for this upcoming archery season. However, I am a Law Enforcement student, and work part-time at a Hospital as a Public Safety Officer so I don't have any doors to knock on nor have any connections around the area (Carver County), does anyone have any leads as to public land around that area where I could hang my stand? Thanks in advance for any leads & good luck this upcoming season!
Check the DNR page. The recreation compass will show you sizes of areas and give a brief description. You will need to have some kind of mobile set up that you can put up and take down. Best of luck this year and welcome from another Minnesotan.
Minnesota DNR has a download for Google Earth that will outline all of the public areas. I have found it to be a very very good tool.
Some of the land is WMA's, some of it is other types of land. I like the recreation compass because each public land parcel can be clicked on for some details. Tells you what kind of hunting is allowed, gives you a basic description of the terrain, etc. Then you can switch it over to satellite imagery and you can look at aerial shots.
Oh boy... another dude from MN. Welcome to the site and best of luck to you enjoying the bowhunting addiction!
We have a ton of public land here for you to enjoy. Check out the website for our DNR and get to scouting.......
