Michigander here, Eastern Ingham County. Fairly new to site, enjoy reading and seeing all different stuff. Anxiously awaiting for October 1st to roll around.
Wayne county. I only hunt in lake county. I would like to find somewhere closer to hunt though, due to the fact that I am working 6 days a week as of right now. Seems like a lot of people hunt Jackson. so it doesn't seem so favorable to me.
Whys that? never heard of livingston being the big buck county? but all my deer i have been getting pics of this year are from my lease outside of livingston county
I live in Macomb County, but I have hunted here, Oakland County, and St. Claire County (my main land). And this year I am trying out the huge plot of public land on Harsens Island. Went and checked it out a couple weeks ago and saw about 8 deer. Should be a pretty good season!
Hmm never heard of them being big buck counties. In livingston county i have only been on a hand full of decent bucks. Most of my big bucks have been in ingham and a few in shiawassee. Good luck, I personally wont step foot on public land in michigan for deer hunting
Yeah, we were very skeptical at first but it is really a last resort kind of deal. Hopefully next year we can get permission from a few properties or look into a lease.
For you guys hunting state land I give you credit. Key thing is to find those state land areas off the beaten path but i dont know of any around me. I know there is some good looking state land out by leslie and there has been a few good bucks taken out of there every year. By me finding land or a lease was next to impossable unless you know someone. I resorted to putting a add on craigslist after knocking on hundreds of doors. I got very lucky and had a guy contact me that has great land and a steal of a price to lease it.
I have done this a lot, not too many friendly farmers on craigslist lol. I agree Leslie (waterloo) is a great area
