Hey, that's hunting for you. At least you where fortunate enough to get to go. I can't wait until next year to get out there. I have 2 straight weeks off starting this Friday. I am getting married the 6th, so I'm sure I will be busy with that. Hopefully I might be able to find a good buck in Illinois on the opener and put one down. We'll see.
Just got back from Colorado elk hunting yesterday... had a nice bull catch me trying to get drawn on him. Oh well, maybe next year...
Yep... get in better shape than you think you need to be, and practice at further distances than you think you're going to shoot! Those are the two biggies!
I'd take two pair of quality boots with you, so you can let one "rest" every other day... that seems to help. Even though I rarely get rained on out there, the dew is pretty thick on the mountainside in the mornings and will soak your footwear.
By all means, have a good, reliable GPS with extra batteries... it's SO easy to get turned around going from mountain to mountain...
