Many years ago a simple boy was introduced to the outdoors by his Farther. Later on in life this boy would grow up to become the legendary Shane Self. What makes him so legendary you ask? Well that story will have to wait for another time. To keep it simple, Shane Self is the 2nd to oldest of the four Self Bros. Much like his brothers he was taught the fundamentals of hunting and fishing by his father the eminent Gary Self. Shane learned to appreciate the outdoors and value all of its wonders. Shane began fishing as soon as he could walk and many would say he was a natural at catching fish. Most of his childhood summers were spent with his Father and brothers fishing all day long. If Dad wasn’t around to take him fishing he rode his bike to some sort of water hole. Just imagine some kid riding his bike down a country road armed with a tackle box, and fishing pools on one handle bar and a five gallon bucket on the other. In addition, it was up hill both ways. Shane lived and breathed the sport of fishing.

Besides fishing Shane enjoys hunting with his family and friends. He spent the majority of his college career hunting with his brothers Shawn and Casey. Together they became known as the Self Bros, Inc. Shane was a solid hunter up until he started a career with Nortel Networks. While he worked at Nortel Shane traveled all over the United States unfortunately, all of that traveling left him little time to go hunting. It wasn’t till a few years later that Shane decided to stop traveling and find a home away from home. In December of 2000 Shane accepted a job with Sprint PCS in Kansas City working in the department with his younger brother Casey. So Shane packed his bags one last time and moved in with Casey and a couple of other yahoos. It was then when Shane was able to start hunting again, but this time it was Casey who was taking him hunting and not the other way around like back in Illinois. Even though his Brothers have surpassed Shane’s skills as a waterfowl hunter Shane still has bigger deer hanging on his walls. Shane is very gifted with a ability to take down some of the world’s most impressive Buck’s. Others believe he should have his own TV show showing people how to kill these bucks by just being in the right place and the right time.

Outside of hunting and fishing Shane enjoys playing golf any chance he gets. Shane is training to become the next PGA messiah. He has a passion for this sport that consumes most of his spare time. In addition, Shane enjoys drawing and building things. His God given gift of an artist has brought not only himself joy but many others. He has always found joy in drawing animals and always dreamed on making a career out of it. After observing his brothers designs he had decided to expand their ideas outside of just hunting. He began thinking of other directions for this business concept to move towards. Soon after, Shane began sketching up similar designs but with the focus now on fishing. His passion for trout fishing has leaded him to develop the new brand of fish designs.

Shane now lives in Glen Carbon, IL with his loving wife Jessie, future deer slayer Evan (2 year old) and their dangerous, horrifying, beastly like dog Maggie (A.K.A Da Midge). He continues to work in the Telecommunications industry much like his farther and two of his brothers. Shane enjoys writing and is currently working on writing his book “title still too come”. Besides all the seriousness Shane loves having fun and if you’re around him you will soon see that he loves to joke around. If you ever want to meet Shane you will always find him standing by the waters of the trout parks in MO on March 1st waiting for the sirens to ring out starting the trout season for the year, or perhaps hang out by the Highland meat locker on October 1st. He’ll surely be there with his opening day deer harvest
