Hey Hunter, how are you doing? 62 more days left, are ya ready? I have been gearing up. Got a new safety harness and a new quiver. Before the start of the season, I am going to get a backpack and am going to try lighted nocks this year. Good luck.

Well, how have you been doing in the off-season? I have been shooting as much as I can. Trying to stay with it. I even set up an area inside my house that I can shoot. It's only about 7 or 8 yards, but hey...I'm shootin'. Doesn't matter on the distance, right? Hope things are going well for you.
This year I have decided to try turkey hunting. I have never done it. I am thinking about using my bow, but because this is my first year turkey hunting, I might just use the gun. Wish me luck. Lol.
Well, take 'er easy and I will chat with you later.

Well I hunt two areas down there and both have been productive. Not necessarily for bucks but I have always seen deer. I focus on the deep draws and creek bottoms. I have never really had much success hunting the fields. Weavers Knob and Peavy Hollow is the main places we hunt. Also it seems the thicker the area the better. The deer will usually walk the edge of the thickets. The one I killed didn't pay the doe's any mind but I seen a smaller spike chase a doe right by me so my guess is they are in post rut and getting close to being out of it. If you can find a hidden place that hasn't been hunted much you will have good chances of killing a deer. Try to avoid running to the back, not that it is a bad place to hunt but a lot of people hunt in the back. One Wildlife Officer told us the best places tend to be just past the gates and I would think he would know best. Best of luck getting one on the ground. Keep me posted on how things go for you. You still got plenty of time to get one. I hope you get feeling better so you can get back out there. I know how it can be have physical problems hold you back, my father is disabled and this year has been very rough on him. He hasn't hunted as much as he used to and I can tell it is killing him not to be out there like he used to. God Bless and good luck getting one.

Awesome. I am curious where at in the Chuck Swan area? I just started hunting that area myself. Seen some good signs, but not any deer yet. I have not been able to put anything down yet. Sucks. I am not giving up, though. Still trying to get out and hunt. Physical problems have been keeping me home the last few weeks. The cold really tears me up.
I am glad that you have been successful. Very good to hear.

Well, I hunted this past week in Scott County. Know a fellow that leases some good acreage. Did not see any deer. I noticed tonight an area I have been wanting to get into, finally the water around it has lowered enough to do so. I will be hunting the area in the morning. The area I am hunting in the morning has a lot of does in it. I know where they bed. Hoping to put one down. Let me know how you are doing.

Hey, congrats bud...I went, but met up with some very angry yellow jackets around 7:00 a.m. That ended my hunt even before it started. I didn't quite feel too good last night, so I didn't go this morning. Planning on a morning hunt tomorrow. I am hitting the same area, just not the same 'tree'...lol.

Thanks, I will keep you posted. And you as well. Let me know how your season goes. I went out yesterday and picked up a ground blind (just basically a wrap) to use in the woods this year. Wish I could hunt from a tree, but will take what ever I can to get in the woods. Again, thanks and good luck to you. I am pumped.

Hey, thanks HunterC. I have been doing some better. I will be able to hunt this year. Probably from a blind rather than a tree. Not sure if I would be able to climb. I am trying to get out and shoot every now and then to make sure I can still do that. And make sure I can hit the target...lol. I will keep you posted. I already have an area picked out to start this year. Hopefully get the chance to put one down.

Hey HunterC, don't know if you seen my post about 2 1/2 weeks ago or so. I won't be able to hunt this year at all. I have been suffering with pinched nerves in my lower back for a few years now. More than three weeks ago, my sciatic nerve started giving me a lot of trouble. I have now since then been unable to walk. Probably will need surgery before I can walk again. Man, good luck to you this year and hope you can post some pics. Be careful and 'put 'em down'...

Do you ever hunt public land around here like up the mountain? It's hard for me to find private land to hunt and I just dont have much faith in the mountains. Was wondering if you ever hunt up there or if you have had any luck.

haha that's exactly what my dad says about elk huntin. We'd both love to go sometime! Thanks for checkin out the show! Glad you liked it! You can start filming your hunts anytime you go out. You don't have to always have the nice been HD camera's. Sometimes we just use little hand held cameras. I even filmed myself with my iphone on a late muzzleloader hunt last year. Just try and get the practice in, you can always upload them to youtube afterwards for everyone to watch!

Oh yeah Kentucky is real nice! We have some friends and Prostaff from there. I wanna try to get an elk tag there sometime! Our show is called 3B Outdoors (Bucks, Bass, and Beards). We've been running for about 8 years now and improving a lot. Right now we're off the air but we'll be back on some time in either september or november. But you can watch some of our shows on youtube and almost all of them on our website. 3B Outdoors Check them out sometime!

It's not bad. There are a lot of deer but there are usually no monsters. But they all taste the same on the grill I like to go to Ohio and hunt for bigger ones for our show.

Being in this area of the United States, I know that deer consume acorns here quite a bit. I think I seen on here somewhere someone talking about looking for the 'white acorn trees'. I have also heard someone talking about Persimmon trees. Hunting a 'new' area, I am hoping to find a good food source. Have any good suggestions? Thanks.

My first year out, I shot a basket 8-point. Unfortunately, I shot him with a 12-gauge. This is my fourth season here. Hoping to take one with a bow this year. I am hunting the North Cumberland WMA this year for the first time.

I have been bowhunting for about 5 years now. Killed many with a rifle but just a few with a bow. Love shooting 3-D just dont have the time to do it alot. Hunting is my life and bowhunting makes it that much more enjoyable.
