If you have ever been to an archery tournament or watched a hunting show on television you have surely noticed that sponsorship plays a big role.Whether it be logos on a tournament archer’s jersey or the closing credits of a television show it’s apparent that without sponsors what they do would not be possible. As a business owner in the archery industry we are always being asked to sponsor both individuals and groups.Something that always strikes me as odd is when I get an email from someone who wants to be sponsored but clearly has no idea what being sponsored means. Many times the email is just a simple “how-do I get sponsored”. With that in mind I have decided to put together a top 10 list of ideas that will shed some light on being sponsored and how it works.

There you go throwing shade on the dream for quiver sniffers who watch TV hunters and want to be just like them.

Sorry I should not have the negative attitude about the endorsement game and self promotion and peoples desire to be in "that position". I guess it bothers me because of peoples perception of any hunter or shooter that gets their 15 minutes of fame. Couple of weeks ago there was a new poster on this very same website, people made sport of the guy because of his posting style, I thought it was out of line. Time passes and we learn that the poster is an accomplished fisherman with a small measure of commercial success, and the mockers are all his buddy and want to hear more of what ever the guy says. Those posters who were part of this should know that they are the prime example of quiver sniffers.

Define the phrase "quiver sniffer". It's an interesting phrase and I want to know the correct meaning if I use it in my own context.

You do have to be careful, people get very sensitive and are in deep denial when you point out that they are quiver sniffers, the most common response is you are just jealous. This is most true with young hunters and little buck killers.;)

Well let's hear some of your catchphrases for shooting a deer? Or even some of the clever monikers for buck names you have.
