Hello everyone, first time archer and hunter here trying to get ready for my first season (Come on Oct.) I could really use some help and guidance. I have been doing research for about 2 months (shot placement, how to field dress, draw form, a little on bow basics) and practicing archery for about a week. I have a 90# PSE Fire Flight w/ brush rest, and out dated 4pin tru glo sight, and a unknown stabalizer. 70# Darton Wrangler w/ whisker biscuit rest, and a out dated 3pin Archer's choice sight, and a unknown stabalizer 40-50# Browning Micro Midas 3 w/ 3 arrow quiver (that releases the shafts of the arrows to where the broad head is the only thing holding it on when I fire it.) They all work and fire (paid $200 for every thing.) Now as I said earlier I'm a noob and would like to ask you veteran hunters if #1 Did I screw my self on buying these bows #2 Can I equip modern attachments to these older bows? #3 What all gear will/do I need to hunt deer, hogs, and turckey? #4 Can someone please help a noob learn and prepair to be a good hunter? Dang dude! That's a lot of stuff and slot of questions.... Start out shooting the bow that is most comfortable for you to shoot repeatable. This is not lifting so you are not looking to "work to failure". Then play with the accessories you have and build your setup that is most consistent for you. You may not want to have your first Hunt be on Hoggs with a 40-50 lb older set up. Get connected with a local archery shop and work with an instructor for a couple secessions. It did wonders for my daughter. Form is great on the range but your anchor point consistency is a bigger part. On a hunt you cannot always have the perfect form you can on the range. Good luck! Glad you found us. Post up more and more questions as they arise. First does your bow fit you? That's a huge draw weight difference 40-50 to 90! WOW!!!! Visiting a "GOOD" local archery shop and getting/paying for some advice will pay big benefits.
@ ath109 im from Moore. @ Daryl thank you @ elk all the draws lengths are perfect, and i can anchor, aim, and fire comfortably. I haven't really found a archery shop in my area. ****'s and Accademy are the closest ones I found and I don't know how if their workers will know what they are doing?
Archery is something that you can teach yourself and learn by trial and error BUT it is a whole lot easier to have someone teach/show you what is proper. Also learning the proper way can also how to avoid learning bad habits that then become the norm that you have to learn how to overcome. Good luck and mostly have fun.
Welcome! Good luck and enjoy. It's a wonderful sport. As Elk said (I hate to agree with him), learning proper form and technique is a lot easier than breaking bad habits.

Well if you can shoot 90# comfortably as a first time archery shooter than thats impressive! I wouldn't say you screwed up by buying those bows but you didn't need to buy 3 different bows. You can use the same bow for whitetail, hogs and turkey. I'm sure you'll hear it a lot but I would go to your local pro shop, I'm sure theres one somewhere nearby. I know its too late but instead of buying those bows I would've just used the money for those to get one nice one but you can certainly use your 70# bow for all of this animals. Since you bought older ones I would make sure the strings are in good condition then as you get more addicted and comfortable you'll want to get a newer one! Welcome to the site and keep practicing!
