Have been a gun hunter for quite some time and even though the other buds on the lease also bow hunted I always resisted as I really did not need another expensive time consuming hobby. I have enjoyed taking each of my 3 children to the hunting lease each year and spending great time together over many weekends during the season. Even if it is just building a fire, looking at the stars and telling stories. Well last year my daughter announced that she wanted to bow hunt. This year when she announced it again I decided to get her a decent starter bow (Mission) and see if she liked it. She fell in love right away and was having a blast. Well that meant I needed a new bow so we could enjoy it together. We are in Houston and got her bow and subsequently mine from the great group at West Houston Archery. I picked out a Halon 32 in November. The bow felt awesome from the first shot and I was amazed at how quickly I picked it up and was able to shoot well (my daughter is a natural by the way as well). Pic of the bow attached. I did a lot of practice shooting with my daughter and I then shot my first buck with the bow on the next trip to the lease. I was hooked. It was a terrific experience. Being that close to the animals is a whole different experience. I added a pig on the next trip. My daughter is still building strength up to get her draw weight into the 40s for next year. Have been lurking since then - great site and glad to be here.
