Hi iam Dougie, i live in West Texas and just brought my first compound bow to try archery out and see if I like it. I havnt fired a bow before, I know the bow I have brought is a little old but it's just to try out before I spend to much money. I brought the bow, 2 triggers, 8 arrows, an adjustable sight and the case it's in.I also brought a fletching jig and 4 packs of fletchings.

Welcome to the site. Next I would find an archery shop and let them look it over to make sure all is in safe working order. Such as string and limbs and such. Then have them set it up to fit what you need. After that start punching some foam. Where bouts in west Texas are you located.

Welcome, like Hoytx said the best thing you could do is take it to a shop and have them look at it and set it up for you.

Welcome to the site! Nothing wrong with shooting an older bow. My PSE is close to 10 yrs old and it's still getting the job done until I can afford a new one.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I took my bow to a store/archery range in lubbock and had the bow checked and had it dropped from 57 pounds down to 45 pounds and had the length of the draw reduced by 1 inch I also had a about 45 mins of instruction as well. After 30 mins I was shooting 6-8 inch groups at 20 yards and it was the first time I got to shoot my bow. I had a good time and can't wait to get to go again.
