Hey everyone- Born and raised in Wisconsin (home of the Jordan buck), and as usual for this state, weather is unpredictable (snowing right now). I joined this forum after taking a way too long break from bow hunting (about 8 years), and recently started shooting my bow again with my son who shoots NASP tournaments for his school. He is 13, and this was his second year shooting. He's not a bad shot, (ranked 2nd for 7th grade at the state tournament last week), and has expressed interest in getting a bow for deer hunting. So he has lit a fire in me to get back into shooting. I half expected my bow limbs to snap in half the first time I drew it back. But I decided to have the local archery shop put on a new string, drop the poundage all the way down, and give it a good once over before I tried. Man, it feels great to shoot again! I'm glad to have found this forum, as I will undoubtedly have questions when it comes to getting him a bow for hunting. I also like the shed hunting section. I need to download some pics from this year. I have a felling that I'll be hitting this a lot. Looking forward to joining you all, and getting advice/opinions on questions. Thanks-
Glad you found us. Join in the conversation. Lots of good info here. WARNING!!!!!!!! this archery thing can get really expensive.......FAST!!!!!! But it is so much fun and what a great family activity!
Welcome back to the great sport of archery and welcome to the forum! I'm in Hudson and hunt around here and down in Buffalo and Pepin Cty. How about yourself? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Southeast Wisconsin- Fort Atkinson area, 30 mins east of Madison. So you hunt the fabled Buffalo county? Nice! My buddy hunted Trempealeau county for a while. He loved it.
Tell me about it. I was talking to my son going through a list of everything that he will need to be able to deer hunt, and the list was as long as my arm (and I'm sure that I forgot 50% of everything he will need). Time for him to get a job.
If you are lucky you can adjust your bow down to where your son can use it so YOU can get the new stuff.
Welcome to site I also joined not to long ago many go and interesting posts. Funny how our children will drag us out of retirement I also was out for about ten yrs. my son also enjoys shooting and shots 3D in the Mac as a cub cause he was upset that here in il. They don't have archery in the schools. There are a lot of nice bows that will grow with the youth so have him shoot them all my son like the Hoyt ignite and mission craze and bought mission. Good luck and welcome hope to meet you in the field some day
