Hi guys, My brother in law got me hooked on this site and on Bowhunt or Die. I'm pretty sure I watch every episode of each season in about 2 weeks. I've been hunting since I was young, and i've been big into bowhunting for 6 years now. I shoot a Parker WIldfire 60lbs/30 inch draw. It's not the top of line, but it's gotten the job done for me. i've shot a deer every year with it and out of the 6 years of bow hunting i've only missed two. both were on me for not having the correct range. Even though i'd love to get my first buck with my bow, i've passed on a lot of smaller buck because I feel it's important to practice quality deer management. I got my first buck this past fall during gun season with my shot gun. a nice 9 pointer. I'm an ex-hockey player who has now made Wisconsin my home and bowhunting has now become my new passion. I"m lucky enough to have married into a family who also share this passion and we have a beautiful hunting cabin on a nice peice of land up north that we hunt on. I have a couple peices of land that I bow hunt on around home as well. I'm glad I was able to find this site and look forward to all the tips and information i'll get off this forum. Thanks. Canuck3
Our family has a cabin in Washburn CO. not far from Birchwood. How as your season up there? I know the numbers were down in that area this year. Our camp didn't have the best of year, two bucks from gun season including mine, and my father in law got a buck during bow season. I try to get up there a few times to bow hunt but between work and the travel it makes it tough. I spend most of my vacation for gun season up there. Where abouts are you up there?
It was slow. 1 buck one doe for our camp. Our cabin is N. of Earl. Between Spooner & Hayward. I only go there over rifle season, though I use my bow for some of that. The rest of the time I'm bowhunting here in MN.
good to know, we may have to grab a beer next season. There is a gun club in that area who is trying to get doe permits shut down for a year or two to get numbers up. they've been creating quite a stir with the DNR. Can't think of the name of the gun club right now but my father in law knows them. We'll see what happens.
