I am originally from WY, a "naturalized" Tennesseean, and am currently in Camp Pendleton, CA. I have always been a hunter but am new to archery. Hubby and I got our first bows last week, actually. Two things are apparent at this point: 1) I need a lot of practice in form and accuracy and 2) I really need an armguard! I am hoping to learn a lot here. I am glad I found y'all!

Glad to have you on. I personally don't use an armguard. Whenever I get bit, it help me to straighten up and improve my form. Also, are you sure that your draw-length is correct?

Ferahgo, my draw length is a bit too long. The shop that I bought the bow from didn't have the correct module in stock at the time. They are ordering it and it should be here within the next few days so I can take the bow back to him and get it changed. I am told that that will help out a bit, is that correct?

Welcome to the site! They are most likely correct that shorting your draw length will help with your string slap. A shorter string will cause you to put a slight bend in your arm moving it away from the string.

We both got Mission Ballistic's. I completely love it!!! I haven't really shot (is that even the correct term?) too many other bows, just the ones in the shop I went to. I got out of the Marine Corps a few years ago, but my hubby is still active duty. I will pass your message along!

I spent some time at Camp Pendleton back in 1993 and really enjoyed it. Haven't been back since though. Was actually thinking a trip out West would be cool and I have never seen a graduation except from the parade deck. Would be neat to go watch one! Semper Fi

I think once my form gets straightened out and the draw length is shorter I should be ok. I am a gun person, so the bow world is confusing me quite a bit at this point. Just have to keep practicing!

Semper Fi! It's a blast visiting the MCRD. I like seeing them practice drill. DI's attacking recruits is hilarious when you're not the aforementioned recruit lol
