Just thought i'd make a quick hello post! From RI, been bowhunting about 15 years on and off, just got really serious about 4 years ago, cant shake the addiction!! I Live whitetails year round, on my small 40 acres running trail cams, shed hunting, scouting, habitat control, predator control you name it!
I migrated here from another archery forum, hoping for more friendlier people! Can't wait to get to know you guys!

Bet you have a pretty nice 40 acres there in Foster. Don't know the area to well but I've heard there's some good hunting there.

Thanks guys! Ya, me and the wife's dream came true last august when we were able to purchase our house and land. of course we didn't close till after the sep 15th opener, so scouting was done on the fly! which led to an empty freezer! But I spent all winter scouting...this year will be much different! the land is great for hunting, mostly 3 season damp swamp...non buildable wetlands. very thick undergrowth for bedding.
Before that I hunted public land in CT that I learned how to hunt on. My dad still wants to go back there....but honestly I can probably see more deer in one day hunting my land than in a month of hunting the public land. (heavily pressured 9000 Ac.) But I'll probably go back for nostalgic reasons, so many great memories of being a kid hunting those woods with my dad. ok im rambling.....LOL!!!

That's absolutely awesome man! Can't wait to one day have my own land and property to manage. This past season was my first hunting with a bow. I harvested a doe 9/21/12. uploadfromtaptalk1366802285524.jpg

Beautiful Doe!! Congrats! nothing like getting the first bow kill under your belt! (and in your freezer) Finally owning my own hunting land has been a dream of mine since I first started hunting. Its a great feeling of being rewarded for working hard, and always trying to do the right thing.....and finally being able to use my veteran status to secure the loan!!

Hey Swamptalker........will do. Do you know any good dear processors in the area? I'm a long time archer but a noob at bowhunting. I think I'd rather leave the butchering to a pro at this point if and when I get an arrow to connect.

I'm learning how to process my own starting this year,, but always have a back up just in case!!!!! Not sure where you are in RI, but I will recommend using QUALITY CUTTING in Pascoag. (401-749-6654) He has a huge walk in cooler open 24/7. just pull your vehicle up to the barn door hang up your deer in the freezer, fill out the paperwork of how you want your meat done and he takes care of the rest. he skins it too. can do sausage, steaks, chops..etc. etc. he does charge a bit extra for sausage though. First one I suggest bringing it to him, definately worth it! then try to find someone to show you how, if you have the available space.
