I got a new case for Christmas for my PSE Stinger X which I have had since about September. I've noticed my bow has been smelling like the case (that new case smell) since I've put it in there. I haven't been shooting much lately due to sports and weather, so I haven't been able to take it out much. In just letting it air out on the ground right now, and the case is open airing outThe case is a SE Pro 44. Any ideas on how to fix my bow smelling???
I leave a cedar and an oak waffer in the case. Hunter's Specialties White Oak Acorn Scent Wafer at Blain's Farm & Fleet
I left my new case open outside on the porch for a month before I used it. I'd spray it with a scent killer spray and leave it open.
Get a pair of nylons and fill them with leaves that are dry and put it in the case and zip it shut. after a few weeks take it out and spray the entire case down and let it air out.
Take it out, hang it in the garage near the spilled oil and gas. Nah, just kidding.. I'd leave the case hang open for a good week and then marry up any of the above ideas. If you're hunting a cedar plot, then these would be appropriate to store along with your rig.
I agree with sota but if you can't do ozone treatment then I would try out putting a white oak wafer in there like Me53 said. Now that season is over in most places at least I wouldn't worry about it if you're not hunting, it will go away eventually.
I use scent killing spray, soap, laundry detergent, etc religiously so I am in no way opposed to scent control. But am I the only one that thinks this might be taking things to far? At first I thought you posted this to see how many grown men you could get to smell their bow case( I smelled mine). After reading all the serious responses I'm left wondering if I'm the only archer who hasn't noticed this.
