I've recently gotten my hands on a Mathews Switchback from a deceased friend of a friend for no charge at all. I'm not a very experienced shooter but have done some shooting. The switchback has a 7" brace height which makes me a tad bit nervous. Really what I'm asking here is should I trade it in for a bow with a more forgiving brace height or go with the Switchback?

PS: God tells us not to be superstitious but is there any curses that may be unleashed on me from using a dead man's bow?

Im by no means an expert but you should be fine shooting a bow with a 7'' brace height. i shoot a bow barely over 6'' and its still very forgiving

You can not effectively shoot a bow when you are dead. Stop being silly and enjoy the gift. My bow has a five inch brace height and I am deadly out to 110 yards.

I've talked with many people in my area that are still shooting a switchback.

Great bow and 7" brace is about as forgiving as you'll get these days. Oh and as far as superstitions go, unless the bow shot him by itself you should be fine......

The switchback is hands down one of Mathews best bows. I am a pretty superstitious guy, but I would absolutely be shooting that thing. I loved mine!

Many consider a 7 inch BH to be forgiving. Not too many manufacturers produce ones over that. While there are some the number is pretty low. With bows nowadays short BH are much easier to shoot

I would worry more about the draw length fitting you correctly than the brace height.
A Shorter BH will make you shoot better. But 7" BH is Not going to hurt your shooting at all.

Curses? More like blessings. Enjoy the bow and pull as much satisfaction as possible by honoring your friend. That bow was a gift to you, now every animal harvested with it is a gift in honor of your friend.

7" is good no harm done there but as far as superstition goes id say no don't use it if a bow hunter dies then his bow should be retired with him as well in my opinion haha I retire everything I use from the descesed!

What a gift... shoot it and enjoy all it has to offer! Hunt with it in remembrance of your friend.

I received my grandfather's bamboo fly rods after he passed. I use them in remembrance of him once a year and put 'em back in their cases 'til next year. After I pass, they'll go to my 1st grandson.
