So it looks like the general consensus on the first time bow hunter is to head to a local shop and make sure you are fit properly for your bow.

Are there specific questions I should be asking when I go in so I dont sound like a complete noob?
    I want to hunt turkey.

    Any help would be appreciated.

tell them your budget, what you want to do with the bow, and they should be able to help with everything else.

Shoot as many bows as you can. See which one feels best and shoots best to you. Then, based on your budget, buy the one you like best.

Are you talking about hunting turkeys next year or this season still? Think if your hoping for this season you aren't giving yourself much time to get your bow setup and dialed in and enough practice to become a decent shot.
