So, in Alaska, covering your outdoor campfire.. to also extend large enough so seats not snowed on too much.. what would you use? It's have to be something that would be easy to remove, ice/snow & all, to use in the winter. Also, how hard would this be to build, knowing our son-in-law is a welder and we could use iron maybe instead of wood?
Not much of a builder here, so any help would be great. Concept & design great. Thanks for sharing

I'm very late to the "party", but my wife just saw this on pinterest and now has to have it. :)

My firepit area is quite a bit smaller so I was thinking of a set up a little smaller than this and probably square or rectangular in shape, but I have a question -- are 6x6 posts really needed or would 4x4 do the trick?

I used 6x6's because I didn't want to take any chances. I only wanted to build the thing just once.

It's still crazy how this thing exploded in popularity. Is Dave responsible for the sharpest increase in site traffic in BH.com history?

Thanks -- assuming not too much more cost I will probably lean toward the 6x6 just in case.

Oh and thanks for the idea, though I will probably be cussing you in a few months if my wife doesn't forget!!

I built mine with 6x6's and I wouldn't even consider using 4x4's. Spend the extra money it's worth it!

For perspective the live from stand thread has 444 pages (on tapatalk) with 76k views. This thread has 10 pages and 276k views. Dave put us on the map! Hope my wife never sees this lol. Otherwise I'll have a new project on my hands.

I've gotten Emails from all over the world wanting to know if they can use my pics in their magazines. Poland, Switzerland, Germany and many others. I just write back to them and link them back to this thread and tell them feel free to use them as long as they link it back to here. Must work because the hits keep goin up. Almost 1/4 million now..haha:rock:

Hi Agnieszka Śliwińska- nice to hear from you. Feel free to use the pics from the bowhunting website. They appreciate all the traffic. If you'd like, could you put a link to that page in your article? And link me to your article too - that would be nice for me to see. You can send anyone who's interested in checking out my wildlife photography to my pics at

Dave Larnerd's Photo Galleries at pbase.com theres a falconry gallery there as well.

    Take good care

    Dave

    Hello,

My name’s Agnieszka Śliwińska. I’m the product manager of Polish webside Projektowanie i aran?acja wn?trz - Deccoria.pl - wystrój wn?trz, ogrody, dekoracje. This webside is the biggest polish website about interiors and design.

I found your instructions – swing DIY: http://forums.bowhunting.com/water-cooler/48346-who-doesnt-like-campfire.html

I would like to write an article about the swing (DIY) and use your photos. Please let me know if it’s possible, and how can I do it. Photos will be signed by your name.

    Best regards,

Dave...I don't know if your interested...but I know your swings have been on the Chive a few times. I'm sure they would do an entire gallery dedicated to your swings...that is if you know anything about the Chive.
