During the summer I sometimes let them go a month before I check them. Really mostly for inventory. As I get closer it depends when I hunt a setup. I generally check cameras midday if they are not close to bedding areas. If they are I swap cards on the way in and look though them later or I have a cell cam depending on how close it is.
I've never made a special trip to check a camera. If I am in the woods doing something so I am already by them I swap out the cards.
I like to swap out cards once a week just to keep up on the season and activity changes and to see what new "friends" I have out there.
I go every 1-3 weeks anything over that i start to get the shakes especially early season when they are putting on inches.
I check mine every 2 weeks. Once hunting season starts I check them every time I go in to hunt. If cell cams worked in my hunting area, I wouldn't go in at all until the batteries needed to be changed.
As little as possible. Last year I put a camera out in August and let it soak until February, plan to do this a lot more in the future. I feel deer have a seasonal pattern, if you catch a buck in an area and he's alive next season he'll be in similar areas at similar time a year later.
It really comes down to where the cameras are located I have some I check every day and others every 2 weeks. Theres 2 ways to do it my opinion Either as little as possible or as often as possible. I think the deer get used to me being there and my scent as I dont spray down purposely. The only issue with waiting longer than 2 weeks in the summer months is weeds growing up in front of the cameras.
I wish there was a study on how often checking trail cameras in the summertime affects deer movement on your property. I honestly think that once a week would be fine as long as you're not tromping around everywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I keep mine out year-round and I usually go about every 3-4 weeks. During the season I check the ones near my stands when I hunt them. I think most deer get used to most things. There may be the few that don't but generally you won't spook them. Blessings........Pastorjim
I don't put mine out until August (Public land), and check them every 2 weeks until the middle of Sept, when I start checking them every week. During the rut I might check them every couple of days. I have noticed a buck will move into my area and spend several days chasing a particular doe, so I like to know when a new one's in the area.
What I would be interested in is Harvest photos from each that replied here and maybe we could go by that
I typically have deer in front of the camera within 15 minutes of me leaving, the deer are very used to my scent.
I check mine once a month during the off season. Once deer season rolls around, I'll grab the card out of the camera every time I go in to hunt. I like staying as up to date as possible on the deer pattern but try to keep my scent out of the area as much as possible.
Yep lots of similarity here. I too check my cameras about once a month until season then when season is a month out probably every week and swap cards every time I go in to hunt a givin stand. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
I have a confession also fellas. I have never gotten a photo of a velvet buck in the past 4 years I've been using trail cameras. What is the secret to that man? I always get pics of hard antlers but never a velvet. Guess I haven't been doing this long enough. Maybe one day. Maybe I have never actually found nor hunted close to where a bucks bedding area. I think this year I'm gonna try to get closer to beds without causing myself too much grief. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk
Every year i check them less. I tend to leave them in new places and see what the do there for the season to see if its worth hunting next year. I do that with about 4 cameras. The others are on food plots and I check to see what deer are around. Check them maybe once a month before the season. In season if i'm near them i'll change the cards. If I lived close to my access it would be different.
