I don't icefish (cut back on drinking) or have any outdoor activities in the winter so I like to pick up a project. This winter I am going to be working on a project I call silk purse. It is a 1958 Alumacraft Deep C runabout. Anybody else have any winter restorations or projects to pass the winter?

Ha, unfortunately yes...I have an old D6C dozer that needs both final drives rebuilt and a new head gasket and fuel injector pump overhaul. Then it needs a new factory cab and then painted and decals applied.

Isn't it amazing on older equipment how much simpler it was to work on.

similar. I have a bare 14' StarCraft boat. I want to build a casting deck over the front bench with a battery compartment to move some weight forward (offset my fat rump in the back). build flat floors between the benches and add storage compartments.

It popped a rivet this fall that I have a temp repair so in the next week or so, I want to put water in it to see if there are any other leaky rivets to fix before covering all over inside.

I really used to spend a lot of time ice fishing, it was one of the hobbies that went to the wayside because I was busy going to basketball games all winter.

The project is as much about the shop as it is having the project to work on. A good sized shop with a wood stove is all you need, other than having the shop far enough away from the house so interruptions are limited.:)

Been trying to think of something to do in the shop during winter months. Keep pretty busy with fishing, coyote hunting and shed hunting but need something to do at home.

I helped my neighbor with a similar restore last year. His older motor had less umph than the newer one...for authenticity I'd go with the 59 though.
