So Much For That School Field Trip

For years when the kids get to middle school they take the 6th graders skiing. Today one of the kids leaned forward to look down and fell out of the ski lift. He broke some bones and is hurt pretty bad but from the sounds of it nothing really major that he can not recover from. They are already saying that is the end of that field trip and they are already worried about a lawsuit. I feel bad for the kid but damn how do you fall out of a lift without doing something pretty silly?

 

I surprised that they can go because of the cost.

 

Must have really been leaning to fall over the railing.

Glad the kid is ok, but now all of the others have to suffer because of it.

 

I'm glad that he's ok...after all, he's just a boy haha (as my dad would say, at least).

 

All it takes is one moron to ruin it for everyone else. I'm glad the kids ok but they had to be trying to fall out or doing something stupid to fall

 

Sucks for the others...but he had to have the bar up, and swinging/leaning way out.

 

They do not have any bars at this ski hill but the seats lean way back.

 

Interesting, never seen one without a bar.

 

First time I went sking was at Powder Ridge when I was in 6th grade. I played a lot of grabass as a kid but I never fell off a chairlift.

 

Better than the school hazing rapes and all some communities are dealing with. Not saying it's a plus but it could be worse .

Midwest skiing?

My only impression of Midwest skiiing was this poster I received around late 70s early 80s.

Though that was also before I even knew there was skiing in the US anywhere other than the Northeast, out west and Alaska.

I think I recall a few places >Long ago< in the northeast that didn't have the safety bars. I'm surprised their insurance co don't request/require them.

 

I just skied Winter Park CO and there was 3 lifts there without a bar. Not so uncommon with older lifts.

 

Midwest skiing where you spend more time riding the lift than you do skiing down the hill.

 

Probably the best skiing in Midwest is this place located North Shore of MN.
