Drenman checking in, I haven't gotten out yet this spring but planning on getting a couple hunts in this weekend. My name is Matt and live in Lincoln, I hunt a couple family farms in SE and SW Nebraska.
Hey guys, season doesn't start until May for me. I have the entire Month to hunt and plan on trying to get some birds going down on film this year. I can't wait to hear that first gobble off the roost!!!
Well the family ground is west of Red Cloud, which isn't terribly SW, but I also hunt with someone that has ground by McCook. I went out Saturday for a few hours but didn't have any luck, I guessed wrong on where I sat coming off the roost and they didn't seem to be intersted in any calls yet. I'm headed out of town on a golf trip this weekend, I should be able to get out again the weekend of the 21st. Good luck to those of you hunting.
Were they gobbling pretty hard off the roost drenman?? I can't wait until I get to hear that first gobble at sunrise. My season isn't until May 7th, but it runs until the 31st.
Some gobbling but just the usual chatter with an occational gobble here and there. I would guess this weekend things should start getting good, of course I'm in Phoenix chasing a golf ball until Tuesday... My 16 year old will be out shotgun hunting this weekend, I should get a pretty good report. I'm hoping that he gets one down so I can focus on bowhunting the rest of the way. Killn, that would be fun, do you get over to the east side of the state to hunt deer at all?
