Well, deer season has come to an end here in Georgia. With work being crazy during the holidays I didn't get to hunt as much as I'd like and need to put more meat in the freezer. Any one know of any good WMAs to hunt in Florida or Alabama with a good camping area? I'm 30 miles north of Tallahassee in Thomasville, GA. Have bow, have climber, will travel for food.

    Thanks!
    Josh

Your right near where I hunt in GA. I hunt in Worth County, Sylvestor to be exact.
I don't know of any WMA right in that area; however, depending on how far you want to travel, I know of some in the SW portion of Alabama.

Yeah, definitely willing to travel and hoping to camp. Which would you suggest?

Scotch Wildlife Management Area is a very good one. Jacinto Port Tract Wildlife Managment Area is a good bow only management area. Upper Delta is a very good management area, as long as the water is down. If the water is up then they will not let you in there.
As for Scotch, I'm not sure how the camping is. I don't think either of the other Managment areas have camping; however, dead lake has a decent camp ground and you will be within 15 minutes of the Upper Delta and Jacinto Port.

It is a bit out of your way, but the public land in Demopolis Alabama produces great deer every year. As for camping there is a camp ground right in Demopolis called Foscue park.

I spent some time looking at the David K. Nelson WMA in Demopolis on Google Earth as well as the actual WMA map. Have you ever been? Looks like it could be great hunting but also super swampy.

I have never hunted that WMA and I also don't really know anyone that has. I do know some guys that hunt the Black Warrior WMA and have good success. If you make the drive let me know, I would love to come up and hunt with you.

There's is also a ton of Corps of Engineers land all over the state that is bow only and those are some of the best property's in the state! There is a few pieces of Corps of Engineers land in Camden Al. and it's within a mile from Millers Ferry camp grounds.

I don't personally know anything about black warrior but I have scouted the Corps of Engineers land around Millers Ferry. The bow only Jacinto Port tract I know pretty well!

The demopolis land is swampy but definitely worth it. If you end up coming down here let me know, I can help you out around there. My girlfriends family also has 1500 acres in linden that i may be able to get you into if public land wasn't producing.

I'm up for meeting up one day. Unfortunately today on my way to the hunting land I hit a spike and for being so small he messed my truck up pretty good. As soon as I get it fixed in up for anything if everyone wants to meet up for a hunt.

I'm down! Our rut is about to kick in down here. I would be down to meet up at a management area up in your area!
