    I have gotten a lot of property to hunt this year in the mountains of KY. I am wanting to put some food plots on it next year. Does anyone know what works best in somewhat of a rocky soil? This property was logged a few years back. There are a lot of deer on this property.

    Missouri is rocky. The best food plot I ever planted for deer was pure chickory. Q

    I doubt you could go wrong with clover. All starts with a soil test.

    Corn don't grow at all on rocky top...
    Grounds too rocky by far...
    Guess that's why the folks on rocky top...
    get their corn from a jar...

    Sorry... couldn't help myself.
    Wheat seed will come up pretty easily almost anywhere; all you need is a rake and you can make some pretty nice small food plots.
