How many days before the first frost have you guys had the best luck with planting your fall brassica food plots?

I am in North/Central Wisconsin, usually do 60 days but might want to start planting earlier.

    Thanks

I've noticed that if we plant in early August not much is very interested in eating them. Frost or not. I believe we had better luck last year with planting at the end of August first of September. Honestly I'd have to check the diary for the exact date. I can't remember squat anymore.

Take your finger out of your ear and I'll bet that you can remember everything, fp.

I hate to concur with fp but I have also had the best luck planting in the middle of August.

Personally, I do my brassicas 45 days before the first frost and have never had any issues. I know most folks do them even earlier than that.

For most brassicas, 60 days before frost is ideal.

I planted a lot of my stuff two weeks ago now which puts it at 90 days from frost. We used to do about 60 days and we haven't had great results in the last couple years so we are trying new things.

SW MN I've always planted mine the last week of July - first week of August.
