Yesterday my brothers and I put some money down on a 50 acre piece of property. This has been a lifelong dream of mine. It definitely will need some work done to it, but it will be a labor of love. I can't wait to get started on this new endeavor.
There is another 100 acres that butts up against this 50 that I believe will be for sale in a couple years. If so, we will be trying hard to get that too. That will give us a decent sized continuous property there. This isn't even close to being the best place that I have to hunt, but I really look forward to making it a good place to hunt. I love challenging projects like this.
Congrats. Sounds like a good idea for me but I don't really have any friends that hunt or as serious about it as I am that would do that with me. I do know some people that I could possibly ask but they're not really "friends" anymore so that would be a bad idea.
Congrats. There's no better feeling for me than being a landowner. I don't own much, 40 acres, but have been very successful managing it into a quality whitetail property. I killed my first buck on it in 2009 and have killed a total of 6 bucks on it since then. Ranging from 115" to just under 150". Each and every harvest is very special to me, knowing how much work I have put in to making it possible.
Just AWESOME! Keep us posted, share your progress, things you do and allow us to live through you brother! Someday hope to do the same!
