Ok guys and gals leaning to the Kioti and yes it is price driven. Clearly a lot of other tractors out there. Which others do you recommend and why let me know if you know price. Looking for a 4wd in the 41 to 45 hp range. Any advice is appreciated.
Treehopper, I understand what you mean about price driven. When I bought my tractor in 2011 I got the most bang for my buck by going with Blue (New Holland) over Green or Orange. Kioti seems to be a good tractor as well for the price. I have a dealership near me and looked at their 50 hp model and was impressed. From what I've experienced after owning my tractor these are what I consider "must have" features. 45 hp - minimum hp 4wd 3 rear remotes - max # of remotes you can get Hydrostatic transmission Industrial tires Rear tires filled with Rimguard (for traction) With the above mentioned accessories I pull 6 and 7 foot implements depending on what they are. With the remotes I can run a grapple or a snow plow in the front and most all hydraulic controlled implements for the back. This investment has been the most useful and fun to use tool I have ever bought. Good luck.
Dean, as you know I went green.. But I seriously could have went blue, orange, red, whatever, and I believe I would have been just as happy.... If... Look at Greg's list... That is what matters... Not the color (brand). What I find funny is I use my tractor almost as much in the winter as in spring- summer.... What are you going to do with it?
My in-laws and I purchased a Kabota this past year. We went with an MX-5100 and I must say I love it! Our local dealer had a package deal which included- •Kubota L3800 37 HP Tractor •With LA524 Loader and 60" bucket •Land Pride RCR1260 60" Cutter •Land Pride BB1260 Box Scraper •18' Trailer, 7000lb., 4 Wheel Braking But we upsized it and swapped the L3800 for the MX5100, we also didn't need the bucket because we have a skid loader so we adder a 60" reverse tine tiller instead. Also since our tractor was bigger they upped it to a 10,000lb trailer. I have looked online and these deals can be found at a lot of kubota dealers.
I see these package deals all the time at green and orange dealerships. They sure seem like a good deal.
Good luck, just get the most tractor for the budget because a slightly too big tractor can handle small tasks but a too small tractor can't handle large tasks without breaking.
interesting timely thread guys!!I'll be keepin an eye on this one, I'm in the market as well, was leaning towards Mahindra. for land scaping/farming/lawn mowing/snow plowing removal on my land.
We have one, and I don't like the way its geared...way too high IMO. Too many safety features in the starting process, which means more chances of something messing up....such has happened. Also it doesn't go into each gear smooth at all, has been this way since day 1.
Around 30k. Our price was alittle different then the standard package because we also purchased a slightly used 290 series bush hog instead of the landpride model that came with the package. A farmer returned it for a bigger model so the dealer made us a pretty good deal on it. It still had all the decals on it and everything I think the farmer only used it a couple times. here is the dealer we used. great guys and they really took care of us. Seems to be just fine. I really haven't pulled the tractor anywhere with it yet but I have used to to haul some other things and it pulls nice.
Another question. The dealer is trying to push me to a Manual Transmission ves a Hydrostatic. Says the Hydrostatic wont be worth the extra charge ( about 3K) and I will loose power with it. Any thoughts?
Hydrostatic is the way to go. You can get into and out of some very tight spaces without hitting things with your tractor or implements. The power loss is not that much in the grand scheme of things. I had dealerships try and talk me out of certain things also, including hydro. I'm very glad I got it.
