I was talking to a guy at work yesterday who mentioned his buddy plants different kinds of apple trees that mature at different times all through the hunting season, from mid sept-early dec. Was wondering if anyone knows more about this?
http://www.acnursery.com/maturity_chart.pdf A chart for maturity throughout the season for most fruting trees, pears, apples, crabs. etc.
Be advised those maturity dates are off for my area!!!! Chart is for PA FYI for anyone who is not from PA that is following the thread.
You are correct it is for PA but it give you feel for what comes first or last no matter what state your planting in. I wouldnt imagine its off my much.
This is perfect! I live in South Central PA and will probably order some of these trees. Thanks bluecollar.
Question. Where do you order soft mass and hard mass trees? There's really no local nursery but I also have heard to buy trees that are in your area because they are use to the temps, etc. Any truth to this?
Almost every state and most counties have some kind of forestry department or non-for profit forestry type departments in place and that is who I would reach out to.
