So 2016 will be my first bow season, and I was wondering what Broadheads everyone prefers. I'm planning on hunting Whitetail and Mule, so I'll predominately be using mechanical. A Bear tag might happen as well, so opinions on fixed would be great as well.

    Thanks everyone!

    I'm a fixed blade hunter.

I like the German Kinetics but Slick Tricks have worked well for me too.

You should go with what you like, also no matter what the opinions may ne on here it's always what you like and want to use.

I haven't used any type of Broadhead yet, so I'm just kind of looking for opinions on what people like. Just to give me some ideas as to what to look at.

What is your draw weight? I suspect that will influence your decision between mechanical vs. fixed.

I'm currently pulling 44lb, but I won't be going out until Fall 2016.

I'd still go with fixed even if you get to 50lb on the draw weight. That way you won't be scrambling to re-tune with a different head if you do decide to bear hunt.

If you're only shooting 44lbs and I'm assuming you have a short draw I would stay away from expandable heads. I picked out some slick tricks for my sister and they shoot like field points.. I like my wasp jak-hammers but I wouldn't recommend them unless you're pulling at least 60lbs.

You would be better off with a fixed head. Light poundage and what I'm assuming (please correct me if need be) is going to be a short DL is a recipe for an unhappy result. G5 Montec, NAP Hellrazors, Slick Trick Vipertricks would all be awesome heads for your setup.

You are both quite correct on the short DL. It's honestly funny when you actually see how tall I am (5'9) in comparison to my draw (25"). I have friends who are 5'3 and 5'4 with longer draws than mine.

Thank you for the info! It's been super helpful already. The guys at my pro shop are awesome, but it's always nice to know what other people like.

I'd look at the G5 Montecs. Possibly in a 85 gr. head with that draw weight and length!

The Montecs or Hellrazors would be great for you. Really any quality COC fixed head would work.

That is kind of funny. My wife shoots a 26" DL and she is 5'5". She has gorilla arms though. We always have to buy here tall sizes in jackets and long sleeve shirts.

I agree with the fixed blade for low poundage, short draw. But it's funny you mention that. I'm 5'10" with a 28.5-29 inch draw. 72.5" wingspan.

That's why you need to work with a good pro shop. I'm 5'9" and shoot a 28.5" draw.

The above should be the answer to every broadheads question.

I love mechanials but with your setup i'd definitely go with a fixed blade. I'd probably use slick tricks. Its pretty accurate for a fixed blade and penetrates really well.
