Just graduated college in December, got a decent paying job, starting to get on top of my school loans, and for the first time in my life that means I am saving a bit of money now. I have had my same PSE Typhoon for 8 years and still love it but I am afraid to shoot a new bow because I would probably be bringing it home with me, and my bank account would be back to nothing again for a while. Getting excited that for next year I will be able to start getting what I want! My cousin also let me drive his brand new truck and I said no for the same reason. So close to these things but so far away! Getting anxious!
Good for you for wanting to be debt free before getting "toys". Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
It seems the more and more people want the latest and greatest things, even when their stuff works great for what it is used for. I commend you for getting debt paid off and putting money in saving. I've had my bow for the last 6 years and my buddies ask me all the time when I'm going to upgrade to the newer bows (they get new bows every year). I always tell them when mine quits killing what I'm hunting or if it breaks. Keep up the good work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
EXACTLY and the truck still runs great! Don't fix it if it ain't broke. Deer still hit the ground with my arrows!
I've got a 2011 truck which will be paid off soon and I'm going to get a new boat when that happens. I can't tell you how many times in the past few years I almost pulled the trigger on a new boat. Could I have made the payment? Yea. But why have Another payment. I made myself wait for my truck to be paid off. Then in 5 yrs when my boats paid off....new truck time. Guess it's a vicious cycle... You're doing the right thing. It's not like your shooting a 1980's bow. Some of the finest bows were made 6-10 yrs ago imo
I shot 80's equipment till 2014 when they gave me hard time indoors that I bought a Helim on payment they said I'd shoot better by gum I d. So congrats to hanging with laying debt first
It's not the bow. It's the archer. As long as you can hit the target it doesn't matter what bow flung the arrow.
Been there.......... done that. The best feeling in the world is paying off the mortgage on the house. So after you have your finances in order it's kind of funny how life goes. We have everything paid off right now and I certainly could go and buy a new bow, rifle or what ever touched my fancy but while I have bought a couple of new bows since, my go to bow is a 2011. Go figure????
Good for you! This fall will be my 11th year hunting with the same bow. It still puts deer down just as well as it did the first few years. It's always more rewarding and a lot easier to enjoy new 'toys' when you save up for them instead of putting yourself in a financial pickle and then feeling guilty about splurging on something you didn't really need in the first place.
Grass ain't always greener on the other side.................................. If it ain't broke don't fix it......................... See where I'm going with this?
If paying off the mortgage was the best feeling in the world do you want to pay ours off as well. Wouldn't want you to miss out on that feeling????
I went ten years before upgrading my bow last year. Get out of debt. My wife and I got serious and paid off her car and both our student loans before buying a house. $76K in six years. It was a lot of hard work but well worth it. A padded savings account and disposable income feel better than new toys. Keep up the great work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't listen to these guys. You should sell your soul to the creditors until you're so far underwater there's no hope for recovery. Just kidding. My bow is from 2009. I have two vehicles from 2004. I bought my house in 1997. My friends all upgrade to the latest and greatest but I don't need the biggest house or the payments that go with that stuff. Give yourself a solid financial footing and let the pieces fall into place. What about a DIY layaway? Set aside a little each month as you have the money and then buy whatever it is?
