For most of us hunting season is over. We spent countless hours up in a tree or on the ground trying to connect on a a big game animal. In that time you probably have come up with some need/want items to help with future seasons.

With this being the best time of the year (fresh on the mind and great deals) what is the hunting gear you plan on purchasing before the upcoming season?

Couple things on my list are..

    Sitka Gear
    FMJ arrows
    New bowstring
    Muddy camera arm
More treestands (hang ons and double ladder stand)
    Trees
New release (Not sure which brand/model)

Trying to find a good youth bow for my 12 year old son.
    Always treestands.
    Couple more trail cameras.
    Camera to film hunts/accessories.
Used vehicle specifically for hunting season.
Boots and clothing if I find sales.

I was offered a pretty sweet deal on a barely shot Hoyt Katera, it's 3 or 4 years old but probably has less than 500 shots through it. In great condition and fully set up. Don't know too much about that specific Hoyt model but $300 seemed more than fair. I'll reseach it online and I'm gonna shoot it this weekend to see how it feels. ftr I shoot a Mathews Q2 xl which I bought new like 13 years ago, I love that bow but wouldn't mind a little upgrade. Any input on the Katera would be appreciated.

    Have already added:
    some Lorpen Socks
    Lone Wolf knife
Scent lok baselayers (one regular, one merino for $8 and $20 respectively)
3 new cameras (would like to add one more, but dont have to)

    but will be seeking:

climbing sticks... always in lookout for sales. i will put up as many sets as i can to use with my LW.
    QAD HDX
New Release... need to get out and play with some, liking the FANG release from TRU ball tho.

that is about all the specific things. i will stay on the lookout for sales on sprays and scents and whatnot.. I will NOT buy any boots this year...noatter how cheap the sale is.. i think i have made excuses to buy 4 pair of boots in the last two years... needless to say one of them has yet to be worn much.

I would really like to get some better (read warmer/less bulky) cold weather gear, but I am pretty well clueless as to what's good. I know UA is becoming more popular and I don't mind to spend a little more for quality stuff. As they say, buy once cry once.

Hey that's my line...But once cry once...

If you hunt mostly from tree stands take a look at the Sitka Fanatic line, best stand hunting system I have ever used. Sitka gear in general is top of the line, look for it on sale as there is no reason to pay full retail for most of it. I also First lite came out with a new jacket for stand hunting, the video looks great. I have a bunch of there other products and they are top shelf.
    Good luck

I was looking more for base layers and such, but that First Lite jacket did pique my interest.

Nothing! I may find some clearance camo but I'm not planning on any major purchases.

Slowly acquiring things I need for next year instead of waiting. Already purchased a couple small clothing items.

Recently purchased new UA camo. I know I'll have at least one more trail cam before next season. What i really need is some new land to hunt closer to home! Any southern WI land owners need carpentry work done, let me know! :)
