I don't have the funds to drop $2200 each on TX or Ks so looking for ideas. Thinking Kentucky maybe west central GA or something along those lines.
Perfect set up would be get access to land and hang our own stands etc.

So my family owns 200 acres of valley land in WV. We trying to move there to homestead the place but with hardly any jobs in that area trying to find ways to make money.
A little about the land, it's 200 acres 5 drainage hollers running into one big valley. 100 acres about of pasture land mixed in the woods so there's nice open shooting for a couple of stands. Also a bowl at the top between 2 knoles at the top of the property. It was logged out a few years back so plenty of cover. A creek a spring and a stock pond at the top. One huge 35 acre holler with water and great cover. Land hasn't been hunted in over 5 years, just a guy running cattle up there. He pulls them off in early September to take to fatten.
We've killed 40 deer since I started hunting at 8 and they hunted it for 20 years before that. So about 2 deer a year.
As far as wildlife goes there's deer, turkey, tons of squirrel and even grouse. I was going to raise pheasants and maybe quail and do a release in the one pasture. I'm going to put up one primitive type cabin for hunters to stay in. In just wondering what a unguided hunt would go for? Either daily or weekly. I'm not looking to let alot of people on it so not to overrun or invade our privacy and land to much, so I'm not leasing to hunting groups for the year. Also within 20 miles of a awesome walleye river with a huge dam lake that is a great bass fishing. Maybe I'll put up a couple campsite cabins for people to use in the summer to get away. Don't know yet.
Sorry it's so long just trying to cover all bases.
Any ideas would be great thanks everyone!

I've heard of some good ones but i found a kind of dumb one when i went over to just browse the Lost Camo stuff and they made a clamp that holds a limb to a tree where one wouldn't normally be for mock scraps or trying to entice a buck to make one himself but why would i want to buy something that is $20-30 when i can just find a tree that already has a low lying branch.

Good read. Explains in a simplified way how ratios can come full circle even after one cycle/season. In the author's attempt to simplify the numbers side of the balancing act mother nature can play, are there are factors you feel contribute to the ratio that were not mentioned? Feel free to share your thoughts.

I decided THIS is the year I finally get my wall hanger.....so after many hours studying my prey...learning there feeding habits....learning there patterns.....I booked a trip!!! LOL!!!!! it's something I've always wanted to do, and the place I found seems right up my alley. It's in Illinois, www.oplms.com . I'ts a do it yourself hunt, where there are no guides, YOU have to do your own scouting on a farm your given, and hang your own stands. Your given the first day to scout, the owner gives you a usgs map with hot spots marked out, and your on your own to hunt the next 5 days. I looked into many others, but don't like the idea of being in a stand someone else setup, and having someone walk me into my stand. I was originally gonna go out there and do a true DIY on state land, but this just makes so much more sense! anyone else goin anywhere?

I have been toying with the idea of getting a few bags of monster raxx and a bottles of attractant (not sure which one). My hunting situation is a bit different than the majority on here. I am in a hunt club and have access to set up trial cams, set stands, and hunt anywhere on about 8000 acres. Me and my buddy have decided to primarily try and hunt one piece of land that is rite at 2000 acres. Lots of water on the land, lots of smaller cutovers, but not to many hardwoods on the land. There are some hardwoods but few and far between with all the pines and very very little farm land surrounding the peice. We have 4 cameras currently set up and will be putting one more out for the time being that are spread out on give or take 1/4 of the land.

Its hard to tell how many others are doing the same as us anywhere close by, or even on the surrounding properties. I figured i would give Monster Raxx a try for a few months and see if it will bring the deer in and help keep them there a bit better than what we have been trying.

I really cant afford to put out 4 or 5 bags every month, but could swing a bag or so every month to keep it fresh. I will be putting this in a spot about 50 yards away from the swamp/marsh. Its not swampy land but just near the water and also a few nice oak trees in the area.

I actually have a stump already, about 10-12 inch in diameter, at this sight that i can clear around to put down the monster raxx.

So my question is this:

Will the monster raxx be a good idea to help bring the deer in and help keep them in the surrounding areas and hopefully keep them near where i will put a stand?

Also i would like to get one of the bottle of attractant. Which one should i look into, and how much of the bottle is used when put down? Also, since that stump in there could i just pour the attractant onto the stump?

thanks for the help. Really just getting into this and want to maximize my chances.

Well, after seeing this huge 12 pointer last year during the rut in my backyard, I decided to put up a trail cam this year to see if this guy made it. Unfortunately I live within city limits, if I would have been anywhere else I would have put an arrow through him. Having this buck at 20 yards was something. Even though I couldn't shoot him, it was a blessing to just see a deer of this caliber. This is the biggest deer I have ever seen!
So far just some doe coming by.
I will keep posting what I find. (BTW this is my first Thread, we will see how it goes)
