Just curious about the 'technical' aspect of the spine of an arrow. I recently purchased the PSE Radial Xweave STL Hunter 200 arrows. The spine is .424. My draw length is 27" and my draw weight is 52.5 lbs. Although, the dw is going to be 55 lbs. or higher by hunting season. My question is about my spine and my foc. I should also mention that I am using a 100 grain field tip/broadhead. What can some of the techs here tell me about this setup concerning the spine and foc on my setup? Thanks.

Just curious cause I have always just bought factory fletched arrows. I got one of those Bohning Blazer fletching jigs just in case I needed it. When I use it and do exactly what the directions say my Blazers are a lot closer to my nock. Just wondering...think I'm going to order me the Tower jig in the morning.

I've done archery in the past but just recently I purchased a Darton proline that was built sometime in the 1980's. It's in pretty good condition but needs a string replacement.

Now, I've never owned a bow in my life until now and I'm severely confused on what kind of string.

Here's an image of it:

Is anyone a PSE expert who can walk me through adjusting the DL on my bow and the poundage?

The poundage I think I have figured out, I just have to loosen the bottom bolts on the limbs then twist counter clockwise on each limb same # of times. I just need the tools for that.

My DL is set at 29", It should be 27" but might be 27.5" as my 27" was measured with wrist release and I am now using a spot hogg 3 finger release. It seems like according to the manual, that you can make minor changes in DL (.5") without a bowpress but for anything longer I will need a bowpress?

I know that I stick the big hex wrench in and turn clockwise, below it, I use a star wrench to back it off a bit before turning down the poundage.
I'm pretty new to bowhunting. I recently bought a PSE Brute X package. I am looking to upgrade the whisker biscuit rest to a drop away. I'm looking for a solid inexpensive drop away rest.
I have been looking at the NAP Apache and the QAD Ultra-Rest Hunter.
What do you think? Any other suggestions to a new bowhunter?

(semi-long rant but help needed please!!!)

Hey guys,

I got my first bow a little over a month ago and I have since got a new sight and larger peep than what the pro shop installed. And being the kind of hands on person I am, I would like to be able to learn to work on my own bow when it needs maintenance. So when I was looking up the basics of installing my new sight and peep I also stumbled across this video on the basics of tuning your bow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f25Wr1EULRg

It seems like a good basic guide and all the comments were very positive so I thought I'd try and follow it to sight in my new accessories.

My problem here is that at Step # 1, where you shoot at 10 yards and 20 yards and supposedly it should be hitting pretty much the same spot while using the same top pin... well, it's simply not. And it wasn't very close either. I tried to adjust the height of the nocking point (as suggested in video) and while if did change the impact height, it didn't really correct the issue of having the 10 and 20 yard shots hitting the same point. Is there something else I should change rather than nock height? Should I adjust the rest height? I haven't changed any "settings" from what the shop set it at other than putting in the new peep and sight and they both seem to be right where they need to be as far as me making a smooth natural feeling draw back, they line up right with my eye.

It just doesn't seem like in between 10 to 20 yards it should drop by maybe 2 inches. So what gives? Why is my arrow dropping so much between that short of a distance and what should I do to correct this?

(It wasn't ideal wind conditions (I will admit) when I was doing all of this but 2 inch loss of elevation between the 10 and 20 yard mark seems like too much to blame on a little wind)

Going elk hunting this fall and wondering if getting something to carry bow around would be a good idea? Pros and cons anybody? The pack I have can carry the bow while backpacking in, but once we set up a camp we will more than likely be putting on some miles. I'll still carry my pack, but it isn't very accessible on pack.

My idea is it would be nice for carrying, but still might be better to just carry the bow. I would say now that I would go without it, but wanted to hear some other opinions.
