So I decided I wanted to try this whole build my own arrows thing. Well, baby steps for me on this one. I wanted a decent FOC and an arrow spined right for my bow. I chose Easton Flatlines D.O.A.'s due to they have decent weight for 3D and I could use them for hunting as well. Bow is an Element RKT set (for the time being and will go up after 3D is over) at 63lb and 29" draw. I went with a 340 spine considering how harsh the RKT cams are on arrows. Standard Easton inserts and nocks. I went with blazer vanes fletched normal. I usually shoot a 100gr point and broad head but, this time I went with a 125gr tip I wanted a really good FOC and added weight. My FOC is 12.67% now. My total weight is 385gr. It's not as heavy as I want for hunting but, they fly great!!

So how does this set up sound to everyone else on here?

Review of the new Mathews Heli-M i-series case by SKB.

I've had this case for a bit and I wanted to do a good review from my perspective. I don't like reading long reviews so I'm going to do a quick list of pros & cons then expand if needed.

Pros:
Heavy Duty - not afraid to fly with this case (I'd even take it on Delta) or throw out of a moving vehicle
4 Lock Spots - next to each heavy duty clasp is a spot for combo or key lock (essential when traveling)
Airtight and Waterproof - a great feature because I throw this case into the back of my truck or Mule while out.
Wheels - the wheels are great for walking through an airport or wheeling into basement, house, etc
Holds a Dozen Arrows - because we all have lost, broke, or ruined a spine
2 Straps to Secure the Bow - the Heli-M fits like a glove but the straps are great to know my bow wont get loose
Not Heavy - notice I didn't say 'light'; this case is heavy duty so it feels like it but it isn't so heavy I'm leaning over when carrying
Slim - this case is not fat; unlike SKB predecessors this case is slim and isn't bulky

Cons:
Price - expensive case but I want to protect an expensive investment
Width - above I said slim is great BUT I can not have my quiver attached to my bow inside the case.
Limited Front Room - with this I mean the stabilizer I have has to be folded up (I use a Cobra knuckle *review to come*)
Short - the case is short from end to end BUT this only matters when wheeling it; I'm 6'1" and I cant roll the case while in a natural walking position. For anyone shorter I think the case will roll nicely behind you without hitting your heels.
Cutout - this is a personal con; I would like 1 or 2 cutouts of foam in the corners to hold my release, small broadhead box, etc.

Overall:
This is a great, sharp looking, and heavy duty case. When I spend a lot of money on a bow and tackle I want to know that some lousy baggage thrower isn't going to damage my gear while on a trip. This case shows that SKB put some time and thought (along with Mathews) into developing a product purely for the Heli-M. I would recommend this case because (to me) the pro's outweight the cons.

Hope you enjoyed my review.

How important is it to not use any artificial light when stalking into and out of the woods?
As a recent post pointed out someone almost ended up mounted on a bucks living room wall because he didn't use his flash light:) but then might not have put down a huge buck because he went in undetected.

I'm trying not to use my flash light or green LED hat light but going in but on a new moons, like this weekend it gets a little hairy. Just wondering who uses flashlights and if I need to really man-up and get to and from my stands using braille. Did i mention spider webs?

Okay I knew this already, but I went catfishing last night. My niece is graduating High School and her Uncle Geoff (me) is the headline cook for his famous fried catfish and Fried Sweet Pickles in Bowling Green KY. Anyway, I lit my Therma-cell about 20 minutes before dark... no bugs on me. An hour after dark, they were nearly toting me off, I am talking SWARMING. It seems my butane bottle was empty and the flame went out. Stupid me, I didn't check it first. Anyway, mosquitoes were everywhere. I quickly changed the bottle and put in a new card and re-lit it and within ten minutes there were zero mosquitoes again. I use it all the time but that was the most definite proof of its effectiveness I have seen. Great product if you don't currently use one, I, for one, can highly recommend it.

He had a sling on his bow that he carries it with that had a couple pouches on it and doubled as a fanny pack of sorts. Does anyone know what this is and who makes it? I'm searching the internet but haven't found anything yet and the Instructor, who also owns a local Pro-Shop, won't be in for quite a while!!
