I hear a lot of mixed reviews on this brand. What do you guys think? I am new to the sport and looking for a good entry level compound bow without breaking the bank.

Honestly I would go to a Hoyt Dealer and look at the Hoyt Charger, Great reviews and very reasonable. I believe (don't quote me in case I'm wrong) $550 bare bow/ $650 package. can't go wrong with it as an entry level bow. being a Hoyt..
I would be weary of something that has mixed reviews, but then again It might be a great bow. If your from Chicago (as I see) then take a drive out to Buck Stop Archery in West Dundee and ask Pete if he has one set up to shoot. He's a guy that wont steer you wrong. Good luck on your decision.

I haven't heard much about them at all.

I you want a good entry level bow the Charger is getting good reviews. I'd also take a look at the Diamond Infinite Edge. One heck of a bow for the money.

Thanks for the advice guys. I really wanted to get a HOYT to begin with anyways, but I was worried that would be a little overboard for someone who has never shot a bow. I keep hearing things about the Charger, so I am going to check them out. I'll give Buck Stop Archery a visit.

Hope I'm not to late here... My first bow was a Redhead Toxic, (Don't believe they still make that one, but the Blackout is almost identical) I shoot it for about 4 years. I killed my first deer with it and I even shoot a few tournaments with it also. (won the first tournament I ever shot with that bow, just got lucky LOL) I loved the bow and it shoot very well but the reason I got rid of it was because the top limb warped... They are made by Bowtech for Basspro but I kind of of a feeling the quality isn't as high as a name brand Bowtech. In my honest opinion I would go for a named brand bow since you can get a bow in the same price range a the Redhead bows. All this being said this is just my opinion if you decided to get a Redhead bow it will still be a great bow and blast to shoot. Best of luck and good hunting.

They still make the Toxic. I got a buddy who has a Blackout. Very nice shooting bow. There made by Diamond Archery which is a Bowtech if i'm not mistaken.

Still have yet to make a purchase. Was only considering RedHead because I have a friend that works at Bass Pro. I am heading out to an archery shop this weekend. I am totally new to this, but can't wait to be part of the addiction!

Well, if its about getting the discount and you like the Diamond (by BowTech) Infinite edge or any of the G5 Quest line bows, your in luck. Bass Pro sales both brands. I haven't hot a RedHead but, I have drawn one. It was a smooth drawing little bow. I would have to say though, for the price of them and the low resale on them, it would be worth looking into some of the other brands listed.

Look at a Bear bow. they have incredible shooting bows for under 400. Plus, their customer service is second to none. Also, unlike HOYT, Mathews and alot of other brands Bear is by far the most user friendly. You are able to adjust your own draw length on the bow where on a HOYT or mathews, you have to send it out, buy new cams, and pay for labor. that itself will be around 200. Just a thought, Check out Bear Archery!
