This stand is going to be very comfy. Looking forward to hunting out of it. Putting it and 3 others up Saturday. The sling seat makes a bit of noise when you stand up as the loops on the bottom are much bigger than the anchor bar. I think a little two side tape on three sides of the bar will hold it in place and take care of that. Good purchase at $55 I think. Very sturdy.
I was looking at one of those a couple days ago, but they were more than twice that price. Where'd you score that from? Need to pick up a couple ladder stands for a public thicket that's too nasty to haul my climber in/out of... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I actually paid $85 for this ladder. I wish I hadn't.... After getting rained on once on the patio, it was already showing rust. Hanging this stand is a pain in the arse. The platform is so deep, no way for anyone less than 6-6", maybe taller, to reach the ratchet to clamp it down. I ended up pulling my ATV under it, and putting a ratchet up around 10 feet high to hold it to the tree. I then climbed up the inside of the ladder and straddled over to a fork in the tree and tightened it. If a tree isn't nearly perfectly straight, this stand won't work due to the seat part not being movable. Once I got it locked in, it's solid, and comfy. 70% of the platform is wasted under the seat. Seat is comfy, but noisy when you stand up. I put some double sided tape on the bars and straps to eliminate the noise. Overall, I'm looking forward to hunting due to the comfort, but I won't buy another one. If you were putting on a tree with no limbs, a climber would make clamping it down easier. I give it 2 out of 5 stars.
I was dead wrong about this stand. Most uncomfortable and noisy seat I've ever hunted from. Heading back up with wrench and socket to remove seat assembly. Gonna put my trophy chair in it.
That's a bummer. Nothing worse than being uncomfortable on stand. Good thing you tested it before EG got there.
I bought some climbing sticks for 24 bucks for a set of 3. I took the box out to the farm to put them up only to find "some assembly required." Since the farm is adjacent to public land I didn't want to risk using something more expensive. They work well for what I have in mind, and they were cheap, but I don't think they are junk.
Got the trophy chair in place. Luckily, I was able to remove the sling seat assembly while on the tree... If you don't have a trophy chair, and ever have a need for a portable hang on a tree seat, get one. That is the most comfortable seat I've ever hunted from. The platform on this stand is very generous, but the design of the stand placed about 75% of it under the seat. The stand is solid and quiet to climb. I'm in good shape now. Be back there Monday morning. That drop tine buck is better than I gave him credit. He's not been around for 3-4 days. The double main beam was in there yesterday at first light.. They had the mother of all dove hunts this morning about 5-600 yards from me. Started shooting at first light. I hope they don't shoot Monday morning. Here's a good pic of the drop tine. I hope he messes up.
First light last Friday and Saturday. Not since. This was the last pic I have of him, Aug 29. The double main beam is running with another buck now, so I assume the drop tine has shed velvet and doing his own thing. The double main beam is still showing at first light now and then. I'll bust him given the chance.
Better call me hh. Always remember and never forget........................... "elkguide - has bow - does travel!"
Sportsman's guide saw my poor review and sent me a return label to return for full refund.... I didn't have the box, and the stand was already in a tree. lol. Nice of 'em, but no thank you. It will work fine going forward with a trophy chair seat. The stand is very solid, and a nice platform. They just need a different seat design....
