After having a g5 for a few years, I'm looking to invest in a new bow.. what would everybody suggest i look into when I'm looking for a bow with a smooth draw and good speed?
Go down to your local archery shop and just start shooting all the bows you can. A bow that is smooth to one person might not be to another.
No such thing as a bow Investment. I would suggest buying a one year old bow for half of a new one. The elite do a good job of both worlds.
^^ This. Every bow is different for every person. You might have a perfect bow for you but it might not be perfect for me. Also, most of the well established brands all have great bows. especially up there in the price range. Its just about finding which one of those is the most smooth and fast to you personally. They are all great bows.
yup go and shoot a bunch of different bows. i love mathews but i have friends that dont and love hoyt. its whatever YOU like, not what everybody says is the best.
I'm going to upgrade hopefully next year and have narrowed it down to elite, hoyt, maybe matthews, and believe it or not the winchester blind side. I plan on shooting them all after this season.
Gotta shoot em. I just went out and shot the PSE Full Throttle, Hoyt Faktor Turbo and Carbon Spider Turbo and I like the Faktor the best. It's all personal preference “In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen.” -Theodore Roosevelt
I shot everything out and ended up with an Xpedition Xcentric. Shoot everything you can get your hands on and do not limit yourself to just a few brands.
I just went and put money down on a Hoyt factor turbo. I shot a couple bows .. Bear agenda 6 and a couple more I felt like the hour was a little more silent and dead in hand. Good luck with your purchase!
He doesn't want the same bow. That's why he started this post. You gotta shoot different bows from different companies. One bow from a company might feel better than a similar bow from same company. Between companies bows can vary a greater deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This year i went with a hoyt factor 30. i shoot it at 65 lbs with a 400 gr arrow. i can't beat that bow. took two deer so far this year, both shots i felt totally comfortable with it. It is a slightly harsh draw, but the shot is extremely smooth, it packs a lot of bone crushing energy, and the bow is forgiving. On opening day this year i took a doe with it. at 20 yards i cut through 5 ribs (3 on the entry and 2 on the exit) and the arrow stuck right into the tree behind her. she piled up at 50 yards.I plan to keep this bow a long time.
If you were happy w/the Quest from G5 you definitely want to take a look at their PRIME line. I have owned many different brands & none compare to the quality to a PRIME.
Everybody makes good bows now so you will make a good choice no matter what you pick, but I have heard really good things about Obsession Bows Evolution. If I hadn't got a new bow last year and if I had the money the first bow I would shoot is the Evolution.
I shot a G5 Prime a couple of years ago. Good bow, but have since switched to Hoyt (Spyder 30). For me, the Hoyt is a much better bow for shooting comfort.
As several archers have said. the best thing to do is shoot several different bows. I think you can't go wrong with just about any bow these days. I shot an Oneida Aero Force for 15-20 years but was ready for a new bow. I shot a Hoyt Faktor, Mathews Creed XS, and an Elite 32 and 35. Decided on the Elite 32. I love shooting it and am shooting quite well with it.
