I purchased the hang on and sticks awhile back and went and messed with it tonight. Man! So far I hate it. I don't like how long it takes to set up compared to a climber. I can be 20ft tall in a climber in 2 minutes. This thing took 30min to get 15 feet. Thinkin about getting rid of it
You can't judge it on a first time using it. You're not going to very quick right away it takes some practice. Stick with it and you will be way mer versatile with the hang on and sticks than the climber. Thats why I sold my climber and I'm going to focus on the hang on and sticks. I hunt mostly public land and Ive passed up spots before because they were climber friendly but would have been easy with a hang on.

Yup gotta practice and get used to it. I can get up the tree and set up faster with my LW hang on and sticks than I can with a climber. Plus now you aren't limited to a straight tree with no branches or having to cut branches. You'll get used to it.
I've been able to work my way up into all sorts of stuff where a climber could never go with my sticks and hang on. Do you have a lineman's belt? ~Bill
I can get up and down a tree with four gorilla sticks and my hang on in 22 minutes, I just got it this summer. I think it gets a lot better once you are used to it and if you have a linemens belt
Yea I have a linemans belt but it feels like I'm fightin with it more than anything. It's the one that comes with the hss vest. I'm thinkin a rope one would be easier

The HHS lineman's strap is hands down easier to use than a rope with prussic knot. I've used them both hundreds of times so I'm speaking from experience. As for the Lone Wolf setup as others have said don't get frustrated. You'll get better the more you do it and you learn little tricks. One thing to keep in mind is that it is not as fast as a climber and never will be. However what you lose in speed you gain in versatility. Being versatile is going to help you kill more deer than being quick.
Climber in a straight tree will win everytime....in any other tree where versatility is needed LW or similar stand/sticks can't be beat. Me personally I like to hang and leave hung stands so I don't use them, but I do plan on getting a set sometime for those spur of the moment moves.
Yeah, their a pain at first but very versatile. I'm not very smooth with mine and don't believe I could ever get them set up without alerting everything in a mile radius. My summit climber is my go to after my set ladder stands.
And, voice of experience here, if you will be packing in/out your gear it's worth getting in some practice at night/in the dark. OP, think of this as the 201 course once you have more practice/comfort. ~Bill
