Alright I know I have seen a lot of people talking about the Havalon knife being a great investment and saying they won’t use anything else. Looking at the havalon piranta and the outdoor edge razor lite they pretty much seem like the same thing to me (note I have not seen them in person). I’m trying to decide between the two on which one to get and can really get them for around the same price. So let’s hear some of the input everyone has.
This will be my first year using the Havalon. Having said that, it has been tested by hunters across the country and I have yet to see a bad review.
Just looking at them to me it seems like the outdoor edge blades lock in better? I have a scalpel similar to the havalon and every once in a while the blade might pop off. Wondering if the havalon might be the same case?
Don't worry about the blade popping off, unless your doing some major prying, which in that case the blade could break. I have the havalon barrcutta. I've used it on numerous deer and never broke a blade or had one pop off. The knife cuts like butter and is by far the sharpest I own. I let 3 friends try it out and now all of them own one. Definitely a great knife to add to the arsenal Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I own two Havalon knives. They are the ****z. Really great being able to get no fresh sharp blade in a snap.
I would really like to see them both in person but cant say I have ever seen a havalon in a store around here. Seems like I might have to lean towards a havalon though
I bought the Havalon this year, didn't know outdoor edge made one like this, seen in the Gander Mountain paper today that Gerber has a knife that looks like the Havalon...
I have seen the Havalon, but have not held it. I have several Outdoor Edge knives (Swingblade is my favorite), so if I was looking for the type of knife that you are looking at, I would be inclined to get the Outdoor Edge, given my great experience with them. V
I havent see the OE in person. I have cleaned an elk and mule deer with one blade a piece (that's the whole animal including taking the legs off at the knees). Thats enough for me to stay with my havalon. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537 using Tapatalk
I have a Havalon and an Outdoor Edge butcher lite set. OE set is alright, I wasn't super impressed with them. I will definitely stick with the Havalon, most likely buying another one before season
