I'm looking for a change from wrist strap release to a 4 finger thumb release. Something I can clip on d-loop and leave hang there ? From a wrist to a 4 finger, does this change draw length or just have different anchor ? Thanks
I have a Spot Hogg Whipper snapper 3 finger and I love it! They come in 4 finger as well. Very good price for a nice hand held release
I shot a T.R.U Ball Max Pro 4 and absolutely love it. It will change your anchor point going from a wrist strap release. I started shooting one last year and it did take time to get used to it. Once I got used to it though, I feel that it helped to tighten my groups up tremendously. I could really tell a difference at longer yardages like 50+. Start out with a cheap one and see how you like it. The Max Pro 4 was around $100 if I remember correctly.
i agree with iowah i also shoot the 3 finger whipper snapper. its awesome. went from a try ball max 4 hunter and the difference between the two is huge. the whipper snapper is much more crisp and i feel it has made me more accurate.
Check out the TRU Ball handles. I shoot both the Boss X and the Fang 3. I know my Fang is a 3 finger, but it does come in the 4 model as well. I have fallen in love with the Fang release. The adjustability of it is out of this world! I started out learning a handle with the Boss X and it is a very solid release that won't let you down. I also have the TRU Ball Incredible that is highly adjustable as well; and if you want to try a 3 finger or 2 finger, you can just swap it out on the release without having to change your whole release. You can also check out the other options that TRU Ball offers in the handle releases, they have a lot to choose from to fit any arher. Hope this helps and good shooting! www.truball.com
I agree with WiRutJunkie, I shoot the same release in a 3 finger and love it! Thinking of picking up a 4 finger now as well, but am thinking of the Carter Easy One.
Carter Too Simple 4 here. If I were just starting out I would try a Trufire or Truball. If you find yourself liking the thumb release then maybe look into the high end ones being a Carter or Scott. Good luck.
Not a bad idea, personally I'm the type of person that would rather buy something high end off the bat so I don't end up wanting to replace it down the road. Maybe go the used route? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I bought a truball 3 finger max hunter earlier this year and love it. Consistent anchor point, bulky clothes don't get in the way and you can hang it on the loop until ready to shoot.
What are the advantages of shooting a 4 finger vs a wrist release? Does it boil down to the Ford VS Chevy debate type thing?
It helps eliminate and prevent target panic and "punching" the trigger, also aids in helping out with correct form, I also like it cause i just hang it from my D-Loop, just grab my bow and draw in the heat of the moment when that deer presents itself for a shot
