A bow rack that actually works. Ive threatened to build one for years but I finally did it. I don't have to worry about my sight or rest banging against anything. :D
I can easily get 2 bows with quivers so my son doesn't have to hold his anymore. He'll like that. I made one like this out of wood years ago for the extended cab part of my truck and it worked great. From what I can tell as of now, this one is about perfect. In the future if I get a different bow that doesn't fit, I will cut this one down the middle and weld a channel on it with multiple holes for adjustment.
THAT is one SOLID rack... very well designed and constructed You might think about getting it patented (with the adjustment portion included).
Helps having access to all the equipment and steel. Being a tool maker does have its perks sometimes. Told our purchasing agent what material I used and he said I didn't use enough to worry about it so it was free. Now I need to build a basket with a gate for my hitch haul so I can just drag deer into it and not worry about strapping or needing help loading.
I wouldn't sell anything I weld. I can get it to stick but that's about it. But I will say this was one of my better weld jobs.
I use to let our machinists use shop equipment to make 'stuff' after they got their projects completed. Some of the stuff they made was awesome! That is one solid-looking rack... can't wait to see your next 'project'
It must have been built well because the lower a arm snapped on my son today at about 30 mph. Bike flipped and broke the knuckle and bent the tie rod end. Bent my new hitch haul rack and cracked the rear end tube and a brake lever. But the bow rack came out unscaved. Just slid over. But the most important part was my son and his friend wasn't hurt. THANK GOD.
