A friend of mine gave me some sheets of insulation. I made a 3-d type target out of them. the target turned out pretty good, but it is very hard to remove my arrows from it. is there any thing I can put on my arrows to make it easier to remove them without changing the way they fly?
There are several arrow lubricants on the market. Personally, I use scorpion venom and haven't had a problem with it affecting my arrow flight.
If you are using owens corning pink or blue then you are out of luck. Over time the heat will fuse layers of the foam on your arrows and it will get harder and harder to remove the, We quit using that stuff a long time ago as there was no workable solution.
As IO said, the arrows go into the insulation so fast that they melt the insulation and cause it to melt/lock on to the shaft and even when you do get them out, there is a built up residue left. The residue causes your next shot to lock in even better/harder. With the smaller diameter arrows of today, you can have that issue even with commercially produced targets. "SOMETIMES" a spray lubricant/silicone when applied before you begin shooting into those targets will help the arrows to release. I carry a "slick stik" arrow lube tube for 3D shoots but I don't think that they make them anymore. I have several buddies that use bar soap rubbed on their arrows and they have success with that.
thanks for the input. early in..... I just like to come up with thing on my own. no reason I haven't invested in a good target yet really. As much as I enjoy shooting I probably should.
