I'm not new to bow hunting, but this year I've decided to try and take a turkey with my bow. Does anyone have any tips for bowhunting for turkeys? I'm shooting a Mathews HTX, 70# 28.5 inch draw, and easton axis arrows with rage extreme chisel tip broadheads. Thanks in advance!
I failed to mention that I've been gun hunting for turkey for about 7 years now, so I know all the basics for the most part. But is there anything in particular that I need to different for bow hunting?
Just as with a shotgun..... turkeys are hard to kill. I killed one this fall with my deer broad heads.... Slick Tricks and it took two to anchor him even though both were solid hits. Very similar to hunting with shotgun in my experience. I've killed 5 with a bow and just a couple more with a shotgun. Bow is way more fun!
My first time out I called in a huge tom and failed to remember that there is a ton of feathers so I missed but man I had fun doing that
False... get some bullheads and shoot them in the face. By far the most effective and most awesome way to bowhunt a turkey hands down!!!
Wear black in a blacked out blind becuase it helps hide your draw. Also if your not shooting one of those lopp there heads off broadhrads aim for the wing butt of the bird. That being said I don't bow hunt birds much.I've put a lot of time and money into my shotgun and enjoy running and gunning.
