Third Eye Blind?

Had this doe come in and couldn't figure out what I was seeing. Then I got her on the trail cam.
Looks funky. Any idea what it is?

I'm curious about this too. I've seen a couple of deer shot on TV that have had growths on them. Would that make the meat no good?

Most likely you would be fine to eat it. BUT, the ODNR here says to dispose of the body if it had multiple growths on it. I know ive seen little one here and there and still eaten them before.

Looks like Fibroma, caused by a virus. Noone is sure how it is transmitted for sure, but the thought is that they get it from skin to skin contact and there needs to be some type of open wound. It usually is self limiting and over time stops growing, dries up, and falls off. Although there are extreme cases like Siman has shown. Recommendation is that you do no eat the meat directly in fear that it won't be cooked fully. If cooked properly the virus will die. The deer will most likely live unless tumors somehow inhibite it's ability to perform vital daily functions
