Went in after a doe this morning ... never even saw a Doe ...BUT I did film this beautiful 13 point in the 20mph winds from my climber. I could of shot him at 27 yards... But I dont have a buck tag:cry: Some of the biggest bucks Ive seen were on days with 20mph - 30mph winds.

Fine, fine. I'll hunt tomorrow.

Planned on it anyway, but wish i had something other than travel corridors that are not being utilized to hunt.

I'd be happy with a doe right now

I think Lady Forge and Tacklebox could make a killing guiding for the members here alone.

That was my luck a couple of years back during shotgun season. I only had a doe tag and saw nothing but bucks

I had 5 different bucks go by. All young ones except a shooter 8 which I couldnt get on film. The big one was the last one to come by at 8:50am.
I just relized that I believe I have him on film when he was a 2.5yr old, he has the same half tail ( Bob tail ) the same cowlick ( Mane running down the top of his neck ) The same brow tines that start way up high on the main beams and he just looks like him in the face as well. Here is the 2.5yr old footage

nice vid lady !

we've also had multiple close encounters over the last week in these high winds, with numerous bucks from a spike and 4 point that hang together, a small 6 pt., a bruiser with multiple drop tines, and today was crazy....a mediocre 8 I coulda killed @ 25 yrds, a 1/2 rack 4 pt @ 8 yrds, another big boy that looked to be a wide 10 coming straight to me, got skittish in the wind @ 40 yrds and turned into some thick stuff, then right at dark as I'm up preparing to climb down, I hear acorns being crunched, he came back and is 15 yards below me right behind limbs I can't shoot thru :( after 20 minutes in the dark I gave him a loud deep grunt and he trotted off.
we've only got tomorrow left to connect, but we've been so close this week..... in the wind

I have had good luck on windy days over the years. Doubled up on does a couple years ago, two kills about 30 seconds apart from each other. Then I shot my buck last Wednesday during 30 mph winds with even stronger gusts. He came by following a doe at 3:40 in the afternoon.

I love hunting the wind aside from the fact that they always sneak up on me and are within bow range before I ever see them. But that's probably why the big boys move that way, they don't get big by being dumb!

I don't like hunting in the wind at all, but when the rut's on I hunt in pretty much any condition. Heck, I sat in a heavy rain for an hour last week, then everything got dry again because of the wind. After an hour of peace, it started pouring again for another hour! lol

But, this past Sat, which was on and off wind (some stiff), I decided to do my last all day hunt and wind up killing my best Public land buck!
