I'm looking for a place decently close to wooster to hunt. I recently moved and can't hunt where I used to. Any ideas?

I'll get back to you on this. I live in SE Ohio but a good friend of mine moved up north outside of Akron a couple of years ago due to his job. Not sure where he hunts but if he knows of any public areas I'll let you know.

Well, I am going to tell you, the majority of the public hunting in Ohio is in Southern Ohio. I had to find new property this season. Reluctantly, I had to knock on doors. I would also leave notes for anyone not home. I would promise to assist with helping the landowner in any way possible.

If you are not sure who might own a given property, go to the county engineers office and look at the plat maps. it will give you land owners.

Just my $.02... control your own destiny!

Completely agree with you. I've gained access to over 1500 acres throughout Washington, Noble, and Monroe Counties taking this approach. Some of the farmers even pay me for helping them out through the summer. Mainly bailing hay or roofing.

I cut firewood and house sit for 2 of my property owners. 2 others are people I work with. Knocking on doors isn't fun, but it works!

I'd start knocking on doors.. I can't think of any public land close to Wooster it's mostly all in SE Ohio, coshocton isn't a bad place to go

The hunt stand app has a property owner option. You can see who owns what.

I live real close to Wooster and there's a few pretty good public areas around that hold good deer!

Unfortunately theres not a ton of public hunting in this area, lots of family farms and/or old farms being lotted off. High competition for land.
