Hey all, Thought I would share my buck I harvested this morning. A little back story on me is that I am stationed in Missouri with the USAF, I was only introduced into deer hunting 3 years ago when I met my wife. Needless to say I was only hunting rifle. Last year my wife got me a bow for my birthday and I was hooked instantly. I sat for days and days in treestands Just loving how much there is to watch in the woods. Now I was able to shoot a bruiser last year but because I was new to bow hunting I took up the trail way to early. ended up pushing the deer and never recovering it Flash forward to today! It was a cold crisp morning following some heavy winds we had the two days before. The woods were dead quiet and as soon as daylight broke the woods came alive. I had tons of turkeys surrounding my stand North South East West you name it they were everywhere. Soon after their departure I noticed a small buck nose down headed north. Whatever no biggie. Well a half hour later a doe came crashing in 10 yards to my right. She was being chased by two young and small bucks. One was legal. No shot. Last day of bow season before rifle kicks off tomorrow. I decided to wait and watch where she came because I had a good feeling another buck was going to be hot on her scent. And I was right. Not even 10 minutes go by and here he comes straight for my stand, following her scent. Luckily I had Special Golden Estrus hanging from a branch and he caught that in broke to the left. He kept coming closer. and closer. and closer. By this time I was fully drawn for about 30 seconds watching as he came closer and closer. I told myself "stay calm you got this" He walks into view...turns to look to the left of him and whack. I sent the arrow....got one lung and demolished his internals, I didnt want to make the same mistake as last time so I waited for 3 hours before taking up trail. Blood was bad...very bad. I started getting worried at the lack of blood we were finding...it was a great shot I thought. Well after and hour of looking I walk over to my father in law to figure out the next plan. and as we were talking he says "Oh **** Trey he is laying right next us!" I look to my right and sure enough he was piled up! Anyways I will stop talking and show the pictures. Enjoy. Super Stoked for my first Bow Buck!
