Ok, we all know that a lot of the deer attractants out there are full of sweet stuff and pricey. I'm thinking of using a holiday hard candy recipe to make a sugar block. Have any of you guys ever used pure cane sugar to attract deer? Also, I'm no chef and the hard candy recipe just consists of lite corn syrup and sugar, I may throw in some vanilla or anise extract to add an attracting smell. Would this recipe hold up as good as a mineral lick in the weather?

I did try that with a mix of peanut butter last year at my mineral sites the racoons destroyed anything i tried to put it in,there was just no stopping them. I even put the mix in metal cage bird feeders and they still tore them up.
