Iowa Non Resident License And Preference Point Deadline

The deadline for applying for a license or buying a preference point in Iowa is June 5th in case anyone hasn't put in for a point yet.

I have been sitting on 3 points for several years now, did get drawn for Kansas again(is it possible to not get drawn in Kansas)

 

When did you get your notification?

 

I bought a point with hopes of buying another next year and then getting drawn in '18. Do you all think that's realistic?

 

Depends on the unit, and what tag your drawing( archery or firearms). There is a couple of units that you can draw and archery tag with 3 points.

 

With 2 points going in it is a coin toss if you will draw an archery tag in 2018.

 

It's unit 5 archery. May be a long wait.

 

In unit 5 you might draw in 2018 but should draw by 2019.

 

I'm glad I don't have to play the lottery for Iowa!

My friend had texted me and told me.

 

I put in for second shotgun season because I don't want to wait 4 years. I should draw this year

 

Just an FYI, if you're putting in for the draw they must have your Hunters ed card on file. Don't wait until the last day to apply if so, it takes 24 hrs for them to process your email with your card info. Luckily I started that process with time to spare.

 

If you want to get point only do I only have to pay the point fee or license fee too

You can just pay for the point, you only need to pay for the license if you are trying to draw.

 

Thank you. I apply in a ton of states but Iowa Web site needs some work.
